And started producing stoneware in 1862. The character steins from the 1860s are quite rare! Made of the very traditional saltglazed cobalt-blue stoneware with pewter mounts. Judging by the three-ring type hinge, it is one of the early character steins manufactured in the late 1860s.

They never made solid balls for the thumblift before 1830 - 1840 and there are no repros with hollow balls - I guess it is very hard to reproduce. (Everything depends on God's blessing) The top of the lid is engraved with the initials "F.R." and bears the date 1834.
