This example dates to 1933 based on the sequential Watson production number of 53875 which is engraved onto the main tube. Watson Service Petrological Microscope - No. 53875 - circa 1933. The Service is essentially an excellent piece of British quality optical engineering showing its quality in every component, based on the right materials, solid construction and great design.

It’s in good usable condition with clean specialist optics, a good pair of polarisers that achieve extinction upon rotation and its correct original case. Technical details – the construction is a heavy steel U-shaped foot, with twin uprights supporting a pivot and a long Lister-type upper limb also in steel.

These are Antique glass slides with the original box. In the card box- there are “indents” which keep the three glass slides in place. These slides are intact with no breaks and cracks. Each slide has a blood sample, and it’s kept in place with the glass coverslip.
