Owned since new but hasn't seen any action for years of course. The unit powers on and I inserted and ejected a tape successfully. I cannot confirm how it plays back as I haven't connected it to a TV noting the retro connections.

They show you what those things are emitting in the atmosphere. Not good. The outer shell was grey and the tape spools pale yellow. Be aware as this plagued beta models from Sony, Sanyo and Toshiba.

Selling for parts / repair but may be a simple fix I tested this and it fully worked. The picture on the screen was very slightly crackly. I swapped the tape, and it gradually became worse, until the picture on the screen was flicking on and off and even more fuzzy (see photos). The sound still works perfectly. The eject mechanism works fine. All the buttons work. The draw makes a slight grinding noise when closing the tray. I suspect this has dust inside the machine from being unused from a long period and this is what's caused the picture to deteriorate when i started to use it. Due to this i do think it would be a simple fix. Maybe just a head clean. But I can't guarantee this is the problem! So I am selling this as broken.
