Amazing condition Victorian period Ogden Smith pattern brass crank wind fly reel. Unmarked, no damage and with a beautiful age acquired patina to the brass evident evenly across all surfaces. Bone or horn handle, free turning and free from cracks and chips. The reel turns easily with a positive sounding ratchet in both directions. The spool is approximately 2 1/8" across and has an internal width to the drum of 1", while the unfiled foot is 2 3/8" long. Partially loaded with what appears to be some pretty ancient silk braid line.
