This is a vintage, handmade butterfly wing tray, with a hand cut and inlaid marquetry border. It was made between the 1940’s and the 1950’s. The iridescence of the wings changes almost magically according to how the tray is held in relation to the light. There are smooth handholds on the sides, making it easy to balance, even with drinks or a heavy plate on top. (Screw on back panel. This piece has flaws. 1) on the bottom, not seen when displayed, there is a crack in the wood emanating from the screw. 2) The trim of the glass painted section has areas that are chipped away.
