The batteries do appear to charge when plugged in however the camera doesn't power on so selling for parts.

I have tested this camcorder and it does work. Things to point out are, when recording or playing the camcorder is quite noisy, maybe from age or maybe the heads need a good clean. Apart from that it works well, I have tested the record and playback function, the zoom in and out, the rewind and fast forward.
