This October 1947 issue of Children’s Play Mate Magazine offers a nostalgic glimpse into midcentury childhood, complete with witchy cover art by Fern Bisel Peat. Measuring 6 × 9 inches and staple-bound (2 staples), the 52-page magazine was once part of a public school collection—well-loved and thoroughly enjoyed by generations of young readers. Condition is poor but intact. Puzzles have been worked in pencil, several pages colored with care, and the lower left spine shows damage. Pages are yellowed and fragile with age, bearing the tactile marks of use and memory. Despite wear, all pages remain present, making this a charming survivor of postwar children's publishing.
