There is no balsam separation. The display panel on the top panel is dirty. When the power is turned off, the lens may stop retracting halfway, but it will retract if pushed by hand. Flash works well.

My favourite compact camera. Used it for years the 28mm lens is incredibly sharp, AF is quick, and metering is spot on. The iconic analogue dial on top (Seiko-made) works perfectly — such a lovely touch. It’s been repainted and shows some honest signs of use, but everything functions exactly as it should. A proper classic, and still one of the best compacts ever made.
