A very beautiful antique copper fish kettle, sourced in France and probably dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. The dovetail joints at each end (see pictures) and the marks on the copper show that this would have been entirely hand-made, including the beating of the copper. A very attractive and rustic piece of antique copper ware, the kettle has recently been re-lined in tin and so can be used for purpose. As well as a piece of decorative homeware, it could also be used as a planter for windowsill herbs or for kitchen storage on a shelf. Measurements are 48cm long handle to handle, 16.5cm wide and 17cm maximum height. The body of the pan itself is 42cm long and 11cm deep. The weight is 1.67kg.
