Made from copper with brass tap and handles. Samovars were traditionally used in Russia to heat or boil water. Nowadays, this piece is a striking display item or storage jar. Its simple design and neutral colour enables it to fit in with various styles. It could be used for its intended purpose, however sanitising would be required prior to use. An odd dent or mark can be seen on its body, still it is probably much less than one would expect for an item that is more than a hundred years old.

This early copper stock pot has been hand beaten into shape with the castellations or 'dovetails' up the side and base of the pot being hand cut. Early in the sense that later castellations were machine cut and the copper for the job was 'rolled' into a smooth sheet. It is in a very good condition and has a respectable weight of 5.7 Kilos. The body is mounted with two cast brass handles and the lid has a broad strap handle. There is a slight rock to the base. All in all a very nice and early hand made pot to own.
