Swing Away Spare Wheel Carrier Swing away carriers are the ideal way to store you're large and bulky spare wheel. Many carriers are designed to suit vehicles with a rear door, so the carrier opens with it. However if you have a drop down tailgate they wouldn't work. To solve the problem, this tough tubular swing away carrier is fitted with a loop to share the latch on the drop-down tailgate. This secures to the top of the rear tub and to the body mounts on the rear crossmember, to move the weight of the spare wheel to the chassis. This carrier also has a cable stay to stop the carrier swinging open too far, which could otherwise damage the lights and rear panel.
