Striking decorative large antique Spanish maiolica plate or charger. This is a tin glazed earthenware plate, hand painted with abstract blue decoration on a white ground. Typical of maiolica from southern Spain, in the area near Alicante. Very attractive design that appeals to a modern or classic period interior. Dating to the early 19th century I think. Generally excellent condition with no cracks or restoration. Minor chips and fritting on the rim. Some glaze loss on the plate, larger in one area. All visible in photos. Great patina showing its age. Large at 31cm diameter.
