Vintage 1960s Smiths Dress Watch- made for Garrard, the crown jewellers, this was the highest grade movement that Smiths produced, with extra jewels and other refinements over their standard movements. The movement is housed in a 9ct gold hallmarked Dennison Aquatite case, in good vintage condition. The case back is (unusually) without a presentation engraving (although does have a couple of deep scratches). The watch movement runs well, and keeps good time, although does gain a few minutes over 24hrs, so would benefit from a service and adjustment. It is housed in the original Garrard clamshell box, and is fitted with a period pigskin strap. A lovely example of a classic mid-century watch and of the highest grade Smiths English wristwatches.
