Note that this is an NTSC machine for the US market, but it plays back PAL tapes without problems. Also, be aware that this is for the Digital 8 format and will NOT play Video 8 or Hi 8 tapes. We have recorded a test film in which we have checked the zoom moves smoothly at all speeds, the autofocus works and locks quickly as it should and that different lighting situations are responded to correctly.

The button labels for Play, Rewind, Fast Forward, etc. on the top of the camcorder have worn off, but the buttons themselves still work as they should if you know their locations.
