The shells were initially produced in 4 colours but with their success, more colours were made available. Ochre, especially like this excellent example, was introduced and proved to also be a success.

The ‘C’ with the 5 pointed star inside indicates this shell was produced by Herman Miller in their Cincinnati Milicron plant between the years 1965-1978. Interestingly, this shell also retains a sticker displaying where it was distributed, placing it as being sold initially within Canada.
