1. Original 1953 HEWORTH, South Shields/Gateshead Detailed Ordnance Survey Map

   What we see is a construction from 1822, designed by renowned architect John Stokoe. Also has Swan Inn on the map as well. There was however a much older church here. It dated from the 7th century as coins were found on the site in 1812 and were believed to be buried underneath the foundation stone.

   "A Map of the Hundreds of Wingham and Kinghamford.". This example, however, is in a good condition. The folds that are visible are as the map was issued. There is slight staining along the vertical centrefold, and towards the bottom on the left hand side.
