A large antique riveted galvanised steel water jug / watering can / pitcher dating from the early part of the 20th century. The jug has a swing handle, a handle at the back and spout with a riveted construction. It holds 2 1/2 gallons and measures 34cm high with a 26cm diameter base. It has been painted at some point and has some surface marks / scratches and cracks to the rim on the base, when filled with water there is a tiny seep noticeable on the back seam, see last photo which was taken about 1/2 hour after it was filled up, otherwise all in genuine antique condition. Antique/vintage watering can. Beautiful patina and still watertight after all these years, I still have the original one that belonged to my Grandad in the 1940’s, and this is the same. 1.5 gallon capacity so not too heavy and looks so much nicer than plastic watering cans.

Zinc surfaces which are contaminated should be cleaned down using an abrasive pad, water and cleaning agent followed by rinsing and allowing to dry. If contaminated with oil or grease surfaces should be wiped over with Universal Degreaser before carrying out the cleaning down procedure.
