Fancy trying a pair of back to basics harness lines . These can fit on either a boom you can take the end off and slide along the tube or if both ends fixed you take the webbing round the boom through the metal loop then feed the rope through the webbing and tie a knot . So also adjustable in length but not while sailing . I did find these quite easy to move along the boom if having sailed out you realised they were in the wrong place and to be honest most of us put a bit of plastic tube over the rope so it hanged better
