As well as much greater storage capacity, the flash storage is much more power efficient. Compared to the 1st Gen Mini, the 2nd Gen is much more power efficient. Therefore, the serial number on the device does not match the serial printed on the case, and it will display on iTunes as a "green" iPod Mini.
