Pack of 2 letterbox springs. These springs are suitable for most traditional style letterboxes (eg. Victorian style). If your letterbox uses this type of spring you should be able to see the spring behind the flap. The spring slides over a long rod as shown in the additional photographs. This type of letterbox is still manufactured, but there are also many modern styles which take much smaller springs. These modern styles are not easy to disassemble and (as far as we are aware) replacement springs are not available for them. The springs in this listing have an internal diameter suitable for rods up to 5.5mm diameter but work equally well with smaller diameter rods. The springs are made from 1.4mm diameter galvanised wire for corrosion resistance.

A pretty cast iron Victorian Letterbox dating from c1890 in good working condition with original spring, nuts and bolts. It is painted black and the finish has been left as found. The bolts and nuts have been stripped of paint residue and oiled. It will accommodate a door width of up to 38mm. The letter flap opening measures 125mm x 24mm.
