Remarks: This rare and very elaborately designed map by Jodocus Hondius was printed in 1633. It shows the whole of Switzerland, surrounded by seven city views of Zurich, Basel, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Bern, Solothurn and Schaffhausen as well as six figures in traditional costumes typical of the country. From the work: "Atlas, that is a representation of the whole world..." by G. Mercator and Jodocus Hondius A good example of the rare and beautiful map of Switzerland by Jodocus Hondius, printed in 1633. It is one of the most decorative single sheet maps of Switzerland published in the 17th Century. The map shows all of Switzerland surrounded by seven city views of Lucerne, St. Gallen, Bern, Solothurn, Schaffhausen, Zurich and Basel as well as six costumed figures in local dress. It is in good.
