This is a wonderful, UK built, versatile amp that can deliver JCM800 tones in a much smaller 20W package - from pure cleans on the low sensitivity input all the way through to classic Marshall roar on the high sensitivity one. It takes pedals brilliantly as you would expect and has a switchable (button rather than footswitch) effects loop. The most useful feature for studio work is the option to reduce the power from 20W to 5W so you can crank it without too much volume - but even on the 5W setting it is capable of getting quite loud Speaker is a stock 10" Celestion VT junior. Unlike the higher power Valvestates, this 10W model is fully solid-state (no preamp valve in the 8010 and 8001 models), so that isn't a concern for maintenance. Considering it's now more than 30 years old, it has fared very well.
