An English, oak carved trunk or window seat, dating to the William III period, circa 1700. Fascinating traditional pin hinges articulate the wide panelled lid. Raised upon a quartet of prominent stile feet.

Here we have a very heavy antique original English Oak mule chest dating back to 1700's, this is a very old mule chest has three deep moulded panels on the front with a very heavy two plank top, with one large lower drawer to the base that still retains the original swan neck handles, standing upon short stile feet.

It’s old, knarly, full of historic life worn into it. Plenty of signs of wear and tear.

The hinged lid opens to reveal a spacious interior. Neat dovetail joints and brass carrying handles to the sides. The piece sits on shaped bracket feet. Overall, a lovely example. Item Reference: M-6400.

To the back corner there is a very small area of woodworm which has eroded a little. The woodworm was ancient and doused it with woodworm fluid and wood hardener. I have to say for the age though this is in very good condition, these trunks were often left in damp hallways and suffer all sorts of wood deteriorations.
