The front is richly carved with interlaced guilloche strapwork decoration, with three fielded panels and upright stiles. Age-related cracks and splits, later iron strap repair and old nails visible, all entirely consistent with age and use.

A renaissance oak cassone, the frieze drawer carved with scrolling stylised foliage, the frontal flank by caryatids and with central panel depicting Samson and Delilah.
