INCREDIBLE 19th century portable writing lap desk. These desks were made and handpainted for people to bring on trains and in cars to write letters and store items. This one is in fantastic condition with some signs of age. Estimated to be made mid to late 1800s, this antique is an amazing piece of human history as we once knew it. Desk is SOLID wood, brass ornate hinges that work perfectly. Opens beautifully to a clean inside. Note the pencil inlay at the top of the desk to store your writing utensils. The gorgeous red paint is bright, no chips or cracks. 13" side to side 14.5" top to bottom
