The Pelikan M205 is based on the Model M200 which was introduced as a cheaper alternative to the M400. Initially, the model was referred to as the M481. The M200 model has been in production since 1985 and is the same size as the M400, which was launched three years earlier. The modelname M205 was used for a demonstrator model in 2005. Since 2009 this model with silver trims came in many different colors. The standard models are black, blue-marble and white. The most striking difference is of course the steel nib in the M205 model. In addition, there is no gold plating on the cap head and a second gold ring on the cap. Furthermore, there is only a gold ring on the piston mechanism. An inexpensive alternative to the Pelikan Souverän series.
