Sasanian coinage was produced within the domains of the Iranian Sasanian Empire (224–651). Together with the Roman Empire, the Sasanian Empire was the most important money-issuing polity in Late Antiquity. This beautifully preserved example portrays the royal portrait of Khusru II on the obverse and a fire altar with two attendants on the reverse. People rarely show the side profile of these coins - they were cut from sheets of hammered silver so are interestingly slender! Thanks for looking and please check out my other items!
