The mic is a quality Shure SM-57 model dynamic cardioid microphone with the original painted finish and excellent uni-directional characteristics. The front screen is free of odors, tarnish or dents.

This is the earlier 2nd gen made model and it's quite nice and works like new. The 545SD is an absolute work horse and they tend to hold up very well despite being decades old. Pic # 2 shows this very mic in a 1980's Shure catalog showing the 545SD as well as a few other 545 variants being manufactured and sold along with their characteristics.

You are looking at a classic Shure model microphone known as the 545SD model that was sold sometime during the 1980's or 90's and was the industry standard having excellent tone and used for a variety of purposes. It comes with the excellent Shure case as well as a cord to get you started. The 545SD originally came out in the 1970's and was initially an American made model but it was eventually made in Mexico around the mid to late 1980's. The mic is still built today but I believe it's been made in China for the past 20 years and is called the 545SD-LC. This is the earlier 2nd gen made model and it's absolutely gorgeous.

Pic # 2 shows this very model mic as well as a few other models in an older 1970's catalog I have showing the PE54D's basic specs. The mics XLR pins were cleaned to ensure a perfect connection / signal once a cable is attached.

I hate talking this mic down because the sound quality is quite nice. This particular mic was introduced briefly in the early 1980's and sold for around 5 years or so before being discontinued. An affordable, quality mic that has held up very well with age.
