Josiah Spode buys a factory in Stoke-on-Trent in 1776. In 1800 the first bone china is made. 1847-1966 Spode is owned by the Copeland family. The dish has a white ground. It has a scalloped edge.

Made exclusively for Harrods Knightsbridge, features two small birds surrounded by foliage. A castle is visible in the distance, Reg is No. 568.949. Wear to rim, a few marks and glazing consistent with age. Otherwise good condition. Probably made for underplate to a tureen or punch bowl. Underlined plate with handles.
