Many you find will be unmarked. It also has previous owner's initials in blue on the lever cap the whole cap which was painted black. I lightly used a paint stripper with a Q Tip and it started coming off - I left it for the new owner to remove if you like - could be soaked and the paint removed!

Listed is a very rare Stanley no 4 1/2H Heavy smoothing plane, it is in overall great condition as seen in the pictures, with the only complaint being the broken corner at the back. there are no cracks in the casting, there is just a little bit of staining around the mouth. From what I could research about this plane, it looks to be made about 1902-1907, as it has the single patent date on the lateral adjustment lever.
