The block can be used to create D-shaped wire but also is ideal for forming tubes and collets. Use a rawhide mallet such as 997 3117 and the wooden doming punch that is smaller than the groove you require, simply anneal your metal by heating and pickling it, put it into your required curve, turn the punch on its side, and tap with your mallet to form a half tube shape.
