I have also upgraded the Thorens TD-124 with new bearing and thrust pad, replacing those very old parts. A smooth running bearing is very important to the performance of a turntable. It also upgrades the original "fixed bearing" idea to a new "free-rolling" bearing for even wear distribution and friction reduction.
