A fabulous vintage mid century Scandi design shagpile rug, complete with original Axminster Norsk RYA label, made by Quayle Carpets Limited, England, dating from the 1960s/70s. The rug is 100% pure new wool and has a wonderful abstract / central sunburst design. It measures 4’ 6” / 137 cm in diameter. Vintage mid century round rug Although unmarked, is likely Nordic in origin, probably Swedish In really nice condition for the age, with no major flaws to note, the pile is still really nice and raised with no indents or bald spots to note, all tassels around the edge are present. A couple of marks to the underside as shown but obviously isn’t visible once in situ. A scandinavian rya rug in a modern geometric design typical of the 1960's in very good condition. Thoroughly cleaned. The rug has a distinctive shaggy texture with 2cm long pile and is constructed using a traditional knotting technique. It measures 30" X 53" or 76cms X 135cms. These rya rugs were traditionally made for mariners and provided good insulation on a wooden floor.
