The surround is of a nice size and has a very pretty appearance with reeding along the crossbar and a panel with scrolling, leaves and a flower. There are decorative corbels with leaves and pretty designs at the top of the legs and the legs have decorative designs in relief.

I think it might be oak. This was probably in the early 1970s. Collection only.

The fire surround has an ornate appearance, typical of the era, with a large gesso shell in the centre of the crossbar, flanked by acanthus leaves and flowers. The fire surround has decorative corbels at the top of each leg and bluebells running down them.

The ornate detailing is truly stunning and would be a fantastic functional focal piece in any room. This is a genuine period piece, not a reproduction. The surround has been professionally stripped back to bare cast iron, revealing crisp, well-defined decorative detail throughout, including the classical columns, richly modelled floral panels and architectural mouldings.

lovely art deco style fire surround removed from our house built in 1930 during refurbishment. I'm not sure what wood it is but it looks like teak or similar colour and grain. came out in one piece with original mirror intact. 131cm wide, 180cm high (see photos) Local collection only but would consider buyer supplied courier collection if it fits with my work schedule.
