Swing Away Spare Wheel Carrier Traditionally Land Rovers store the spare wheel on the back door, but these can be very heavy, especially when you've got mud tyres fitted. The additional weight wears out the hinges too and can damage the door panel over time too. The solution is to fit a swing away spare wheel carrier. These transfer the weight onto the rear cross member. This doesn't have any fiddly catches either, its connected to the rear door too, so you can open and close the door as usual without causing damage or hassle. These will fit all hard top Series 2, 2A, 3 and Defenders with a rear door fitted. We do have versions available if you have a drop down tailgate.
