A Stanley Bailey No 5 plane with a corrugated sole. This is a type 13 plane; single patent date to rear of frog, flat front section which pre dates the raised front knob receiver. This one won't be winning any beauty contests but is otherwise functional. The left cheek has a repair. It is cosmetic only and does not compromise the function of the plane. The piece had broken off cleanly and has been reattached with jb-weld and is surprisingly solid - the part has been sanded and wire wheel polished and hasn't budged. The rear handle has a graft repair, clearly visible, but is otherwise intact. The lever cap has a tiny chip to one corner. The cutter bears the Sweetheart stamp but is very short. A spare cutting iron, by Record, is included in the sale.
